Mr. Jim
Fusik
Born in 1984, James Fusik has established himself among the great young talents in saxophone performance and composition. His performances in the United States and abroad have included solo recitals, concertos, and chamber concerts. He has performed as soloist with the Blue Lake Festival Orchestra and the CMU Symphony, and has appeared with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, the Harry James Orchestra, and the Saginaw Bay Symphony. He has performed at conferences for the North American Saxophone Alliance and the World Saxophone Congress in Slovenia. His compositions have been performed by members of the Tanglewood Summer Music Festival. Equally at home in classical, jazz, and folk styles, Jim performs with the Jazz Apostles of Swing, and since the summer 2005 he has began traveling around with "Pan" Franek and the Polka Towners. Jimmy, being of Polish decent, has adapted quickly to playing polkas and loves the Polish ethnicity in the music. He is currently a student at Central Michigan University completing undergraduate degrees in Music Education and Composition with professors John Nichol, Saxophone, and Jose-Luis Maurtua and David Gillingham, composition.
